THE EXHIBITION
“The Textures of Giorgione” is a fascinating exhibition based on the parallel path of the history of art and fabrics, aimed at giving an interpretation of the allegorical aspect of the works and character of Giorgione. The textures, intended as fabrics, are those worn by the men and women depicted. In those times, they were excessively costly yet represented a status symbol, refinement and spending ability in a worldly triumph of appearances. On leaving the museum, the itinerary takes you to the ”places of Giorgione” in the old town centre: the Duomo, the Torre Civica, the Studiolo in Vicolo dei Vetri, Casa Costanzo and Casa Barbarella.

THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition at Palazzo dei Diamanti will be dedicated to one of the great protagonists of 17th century painting, Carlo Bononi of Ferrara, whose name, not surprisingly, was often linked with Zurbáran or Caravaggio. For centuries, Bononi, like all the artists of Ferrara in the 17th century, remained in the dark, overshadowed by the memory of the Renaissance period when the Este ruled Ferrara. The artist, a naturalist who depicted mythological scenes, huge decorative cycles of sacred art and altarpieces, instead, developed a pictorial style that focused on emotions, the intimate and sentimental relationship between the figures he painted and the observer.

THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition includes 4 themed sections, each one dedicated to a different secession. It starts with the Munich Secession, in 1892, where the Jugendstil movement was born, which was joined by various artists including Franz von Stuck, Ludwig von Hofmann, Carl Strathmann and Thomas Theodor Heine. It continues with the Vienna Secession, which began in 1897 and developed on the initiative of the Hungarian writer Lajos Hevesi and the great artist Gustav Klimt. The Prague Secession, perhaps less known, began in 1890 with various groups of modernist artists who moved away from the traditional culture of their country of origin: one of these was the Manes group. The Prague-based artists mainly focused on drawing and engraving: a third of the section dedicated to the Prague Secession will, however, be dedicated to graphics. The final section is the Rome Secession, active between 1913 and 1916, including artists such as Felice Casorati, Plinio Nomellini, Enrico Lionne, Aleardo Terzi and Giuseppe Biasi
